Andrea Pensado

After rigorous academic studies as a composer, Andrea Pensado finds herself playing frequently at noise shows and improvising with the most aesthetically diverse musicians. This totally unexpected and joyful turn in her life took place very gradually. Nowadays, Pensado uses voice and electronics to make her music. The approach to both, programming and performance is highly intuitive. The harsh cut up noise result, mixed with the strong emotional component of her music, generate a deeply personal sonic language which often gives rise to intense responses in the most varied audiences. Chelsea Bridge is Mallory Linehan, a classically trained violinist from Chicago, IL with an infatuation for improvisation and sound collage. Janet Xmas is Grace Smith, a passionate performance artist from St. Louis, MO with a knack for noise. The two share a strong interest in ritual and an obsession for melding things beautiful and holy with those considered ugly or distasteful.   Performing together as Chelsea Xmas since October 2019 with “Sweater Dance”, Mallory and Grace are excited to share their new creation “Sacrificial Dance” and Ende Tymes 11.

CK Barlow & friends (with Michael Foster, Sandy Ewen, and Zach Rowden)

A 2015 transplant to Baltimore from New Mexico’s rich experimental music scene, CK Barlow turns real-time and field recordings into performable solo pieces using a variety of hardware instruments, laptops and mobile devices. As an ensemble player, CK spent 14 years with the acclaimed avant-orchestral conduction-improv group Out of Context using a custom live-sampling setup. Other NM bands included Useless Eaters (w/JA Dino Deane and DJ Ultraviolet), and mJane with Molly Sturges — along with a variety of rock, metal and salsa bands. She has scored two feature-length films and dozens of short films, theater productions and choreographic works; and has had music used in more than 190 different television series. Eel Tank

EEL TANK is the solo performance project of PHL based musician Nicki Duval (they/them), with live 3D visuals from Daniel Mangosing. January Hunt & Octonomy are from NYC. January Hunt is a Brooklyn based musician and artist exploring the malleability of body and technology as a resistance to/refuge from the dominant culture through rearranging her skin suit, manipulating biology and re-shaping electricity. She performs under her own name, as New Castrati, among other aliases. 

Octonomy is the moniker of Heidi Lorenz, a Brooklyn-based sound artist. Octonomy spans multiple genres; from noise and drone to darkwave, industrial & techno. She uses found sounds, voice, field recordings, power tools, noise sequenced through distortion, reverb and hardware synthesizers to create textural soundscapes that vary in structure and duration. In addition to performance and DJ work, she has also done a number of extended sound compositions and sonic programming/design work for experiential spaces and installations. Thematically, her work delves into motifs of loss, repressed desires, occultism & anti-capitalism.

Jen Kutler is a New York-based multidisciplinary artist and performer. She modifies found objects that are cultural signifiers of power, gender, queerness and intimacy to create atypical instruments and sculptures. Jim Haynes

Jim Haynes resides in California, and has exhibited internationally at the San Francisco Museum Of Modern Art, the Lausanne Underground Film Festival, the Berkeley Art Museum, WestSpace (Melbourne, Australia), and Diapason (New York). Recorded media has been published through Editions Mego, Ghostly International, Drone Records, Hooker Vision, Intransitive, Semperflorens, Elevator Bath, and The Helen Scarsdale Agency. He has also been awarded residencies at the Djerassi Resident Artists Program (California), Recombinant Media Labs (California), Jack Straw Productions (Seattle), and MoKS (Estonia). He has participated in a number of fruitful collaborations with Loren Chasse, Keith Evans, Steven Stapleton, and M.S. Waldron. Until 2015, he was the Vice President and Curatorial Director for 23five Incorporated, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development and increased awareness of sound arts within the public arena. JoAnn McNeil

While the world at large continues its sluggish, incremental awakening to the embodied artistic brilliance of black women, it would be easy to say that JoAnn McNeil has quietly birthed a collection of living sound and sight fully immersed in the lived-in dystopia that many black women experience on this very same world. The noise of it all (and, yes, in fact “noise” as evidenced by pieces like “Invisa Cell” with its Suzanne Cianni-esque dirge or the ambiance of “Blind Eye” and its Top 40 dance hit in a post Weyland-Yutani world) suggests that nothing from this oeuvre could materialize quietly. Yet, here we are, finally witnessing an artist gently exploding (if you will) from the strange environs of her birthplace of St. Louis (as documented in the photography series “Broken Homes”) and onto stages, galleries, and afro-futurist festivals from St. Louis to Philadelphia. Though it must be said: JoAnn McNeil is not a noise musician or sonic landscaper, but a being kemetically tethered to this world, speaking in vibrations and alien choral hums. JoAnn McNeil's photography and design are not washed out moments of contemplative exhibitionism, they're active sigil work fused together from a shattered kaleidoscope and pixelated cels mimeographed from Octavia Butler's lost visions. While McNeil's love of creating cut-n-paste soundtracks from glitches that have returned from space with modular synths and various apps remains, it is in the synthesis of the visual, the kinetic, and the spiritual that empowers her work. In the presence of such visionary work as the “Ghost Sheets” series where physiological representations of depression and internal conflicts are navigated through stark, digitally manipulated photographs, it becomes clear: JoAnn McNeil is not a multi-disciplinary artist, she's a self-contained, time displaced spirit vessel with dials set to liberation. - Alex Smith. New York City based artist Kjostad brings forth panoramic displays of nature woven with layers of carefully arranged static and electronic textures. Kjostad is the moniker of Stefan Aune who is also involved in Form Hunter and Breaking The Will, in addition to running the prolific New Forces label. Kjostad weaves together an organic tapestry of man-made and natural sonics. Capturing highly personal sounds focused on northern Minnesota, Aune takes these moments and introduces layers of electronics and magnetic tape, not just blending the two but utilizing the strong qualities of both to achieve an even more impactful statement that expresses the ultimate power of pure sound.
