Bob Bellerue is a composer, experimental musician, and creative technician based in Brooklyn NY. Over the last 20 years BB has been involved in a wide range of live creative weirdness - homemade percussion ensembles, Balinese gamelan, dance/performance art sound scores, installation art. For the last 10 years he has been primarily focused on live electronic noise art, and has toured extensively in the western US, as well as Europe and Indonesia. BB is currently employed as the Technical Director for The Kitchen (NYC), as well as running the labels Anarchymoon Recordings and Cold Hands Video. He is in the midst of long-term collaborations with the choreographer Wanda Z Gala, and gigs regularly as a solo artist, in KILT (with Raven Chacon), and in collaboration with some of the heavyweights of the universal experimental music scene (Telecult Powers, David Kendall, Smegma, Joseph Hammer, Phroq, Albert Ortega, Tecumseh, Jarrett Silberman). BB was formerly based in Los Angeles, where he ran the sub-garde experimental music/performance space the Il Corral, and curated the Beyond Music series and festival. As a videographer he has shot hundreds of concerts / theater performances / weddings, is developing a DVD series around live footage of noise and experimental music, and is in the midst of shooting “The Lowest Form of Music: LAFMS, Smegma, and the Origins of Folk Noise” (production dates 2008-2010). As a theater technician, he has designed lights and sound for hundreds of theater and dance performances. Website: halfnormal.com.

Artist Statement: "my work is based in feedback circuits used for synthesis; recontextualized field recordings; texture/drone/nonmusical instruments (shanai, rebab, gambuh, chinese cymbals, hunting calls, junk metal, sheets of glass); and a performance presence best characterized as animist/animalistic. i attempt to harness the sounds within nature, without imposing a deterministic melodic/rhythmic structure."

Short Bio: "Bob Bellerue (aka half normal) is a noise artist, theater designer, audio engineer, writer, and founder of the sub-avant performance space the Il Corral. Bellerue's work utilizes custom electronics and programming, incorporating feedback, prepared field recordings, de-musicalized instruments, and found oscillators. His work has been presented at the Yogyakarta Gamelan Festival, Centre de Cultura Contemporanea de Barcelona, CEAIT Festival, Olympia Experimental Music Festival, PDX Noise Festival, Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, Stanford University, UCSD, and UCLA."
